2 Factor Authentication

The 2 Factor Authentication has to be set up personally by the user. The reason for this is that the user can choose to set it up or not.

Ofcourse, this is strongly reccomended because it brings a lot of advantages with it. Also, it gives an extra layer of security before you can access the app.

At the top of the homepage of Heroku you can find your profilepicture/avatar. You need to click on that and you get these options shown in the screenshot.

Here you choose 'Account Settings'. Next, you scroll to the bottom until you arrive at the 'Multi-Factor Authentication' category. After that you select “Setup Multi-factor Authentication”.

Profiel uitleg

After pressing the button you land at a screen with a few options. At this screen you click on "one time password generator". When selecting this option, you can use Google Authentication for example to log in.

Setup van Multifactor

Press 'Add'and you get a QR-code that you can scan with the Google Authenticator app. When you have scanned the QR-code, you receive a numeric code in the app. This numeric code needs to be filled in everytime you log on to the Heroku platform. But beware: you have to be quick to enter the code because it is only valid for a very short time.

If you have done it correctly you get the success message that you have added an authentication to your account!
